Easter Jeep Safari 2022!

Okay, so you missed Moab, it happens! We got the recap for you right HERE! Are you going to miss Jeep Beach too? Well don't you worry. Just sit back in that office chair with your Hawaiian shirt on sipping on a Shirley Temple wishing you were basking in the sun and we'll catch you up on what the Proving Grounds Racing crew has been up to while at Easter Jeep Safari last week!

Moab, Utah, is known for its national parks, beautiful scenery, and one of the most geographically iconic outdoor exploration locations on the map. From rock climbers, hikers, mountain bikers, to off-road enthusiast, there are activities for all. Easter Jeep Safari has been around for years. The Red Rock 4 Wheelers have been around since the early 80's and have been leading the way for trail rides and runs throughout Moab during the week-long Jeep event and the Proving Grounds Racing team set the tools down and headed north for some fun with friends, partners, and family for the week.
Along with trail rides and wheeling locations through the town, Arches National Park is located just North of town. Inside of the park you will find many breathtaking sites, views, pictographs, and dinosaur tracks. Not only are some of these sites only a short hike away, there are some arches that you can only get to with an off-road vehicle.

After starting off the week with some sightseeing, it was time to get out on the trail. Our friends at Skyjacker Suspension put on a run at Top of the World. This trail is outside of town about 30 miles and takes you to the top of the rim of the canyons looking out on the vast scenery with over 500-foot cliffs. Climbing elevations through the back side of the cliffs, Trent McGee led the trail for the day with the Skyjacker team as mid gunner and tail.

While starting the morning we had some troubles with the 4400 and needed to make some changes to get it back on the road. We let the group know we were running late we were able to catch up with them on the trail, but not before running into Andrew Bailey with HP Tuners who was also catching up with the group on the trail from helping a customer at the BFG Garage that early morning.
At the climax of the trail, you have a breathtaking view of the valley! We ate lunch with the group and mingled while Jeeps and families took turns taking photos on the ledge.

Returning back into town we attended the kickoff party with the Rock Krawler boys at Zak’s. Meeting up with everyone from the trails was the perfect way to end the trails and get ready for the next day’s festivities: Behind the Rocks!

Waking up in a winter wonderland was a surprise as almost two inches of snow covered the ground in the 27-degree weather. With no windshield or windows, it was a cold morning! Rock Krawler lead the run and we had our friends from Letz Roll Offroad join us, along with the boys from Artec. Going down “high dive”and up “up chuck” with some snow coverage was a whole new element for today’s adventure.

Being able to communicate with the group we had our Rugged Radios headsets on to keep up with the Joneses! And to keep our ears warm! Rugged Radios has been supporting the offroad community for close to 30 years. We trust them not only in our racing vehicles, but also our trail rigs and side by sides to stay connected on the trails.

Finishing the day with tacos at the BFG Garage was just the warm meal we needed to share stories with friends. BFG has been with our program since day one. We trust BFG and their tires for the trails, recreation, daily purpose, and also come race day. With a variety of choices when it comes to the needs of the vehicle BFG has us covered.

Metal Masher was calling our name the next morning with the BFG team. With Larry McRae leading the pack we had a fun day working our lines and bombing down the trails for the brisk morning. Without snow this time! It was great seeing another Ultra4 driver out on the trails utilizing their Ultra4 car for more then just the race track. We ran into Dawson Allington who has been racing in Ultra4 for years now and has stepped into the 4500 Mod class with his Tribe 16 built Jeep Wrangler. Ultra4 cars are the Swiss army knife of vehicles, built to do it all, and some!

With steep ledges and climbs we put our Klein Engines built LS7 to work. Having some fun on the trail and letting the car do what it does best. Thanks to Tom Wood's Drive Shafts our drivetrain is sound on these rocks! Taking some free time to head into Onion Creek for the amazing scenery and streamline trail was a perfect place to get some exploration photos and see some of the different old mines in the area.

Ending the week with ice cream socials with Rock Krawler, Savvy Offroad, and SpiderWebShade couldn’t have made for a better relaxing time.
To all our partners that we got to explore with this event we thank you for the time, support and letting us do what we do. Until our next adventure!
